BIOGRAPHY

R. Amit Kumar is the founder of Dark Frames, a boutique film production and distribution company that focuses on distributing Indian Independent films in North America.

Raj Amit Kumar graduated in Masters of Arts in Cinema and Media Studies from City University of New York (CUNY) in 2006 where he received the George Custen Memorial Award for Academic Excellence. He finished his Ph.D. coursework in Cinema and Media studies at Southern Illinois University (SIUC) and began working on his first feature length film Unfreedom.

His talent and intellect have also been commended with awards such as the National Scholarship of India for Academic Excellence and the Faculty Screenwriting Award at University of film and Video Association (UFVA) 2009.
